Africa is one of the most diverse continents in the world!  It is the most ethnically and linguistically diverse, not to mention the astonishing biodiversity and geographical terrains.  As Ricafrica evolves, we are looking for new ways to help our community of Africa enthusiasts experience Africa, while outside of Africa. One of the ways we are doing this is by facilitating explorations of Africa through enriching, virtual and in-person, art and cultural events for the whole family! Adventures Remembered

Afri-ween

This past Halloween we hosted our first event, Afri-ween, an African twist on Halloween for the whole family. South Shore residents and visitors journeyed through our exhibit of fun facts about Africa and collected plenty of treats along the way. Fact themes included geography, history, art & culture.

One of the best best things about Afri-ween, was listening to and watching kids process what they were learning about Africa, with their family. Those precious moments were validating for me because I know that these kids are now armed with knowledge that no one can take away from them and that will empower their critical thinking skills as they process the workings of the world and their place in it (next post will elaborate). My hope is that this will be the takeaway for anyone who encounters anything Ricafrica. .
